Join us for a moving evening of poetry for Holocaust Memorial Day. Headlining the event is poet Viv Fogel, who will be reading from her new collection “Imperfect Beginnings,” which lays bare the lingering trauma and displacement passed down through generations since the Holocaust. Transporting us from wartime to adoption, exile to homecoming, Fogel finds both pain and healing in stories of her father, her ancestors, and her own journey as a daughter of the second generation.

Also reading their stirring works will be poets Barsa Ray and Beth Brookes, with poems from protest anthology ‘Demos Rising’ (a proportion of the profits of which go to Amnesty International) who give voice to the refugee and persecution experience, as well as featured poet George Szirtes, who shares deeply personal poems of his family surviving persecution first-hand. Through verse both haunting and hopeful, these writers collectively bear witness to loss and survival. Now more than ever, it is crucial we come together to remember.
