Durham University Classical Ensemble transcend modern life, bringing their stylistic historical performance practice to a programme that celebrates the virtues of joy, hope and unity.

Haydn’s Creation Overture takes us from the depths of chaos through to developing clarity.  Weber’s Clarinet Concerto gives us a practical narrative of the individual and society as cohesive, competitive units who can achieve their most profound expression with cooperation. Finally, Beethoven’s earth-shattering 9th Symphony shines its light to round off the evening with its narrative of struggle, peace in death, ascent to Elysium and universal brotherhood.
